Throughout this midterm election year, a lot of hype is made about November 4, 2014. Supposedly, that is when conservatives are going to win and make huge gains. Both chambers will be won, President Obama will be a lame-duck President, and the country will prosper and we will all live happily ever after.
If that is your thinking, it is time to change. Let’s look at recent history. When Republicans were in control of both houses and the presidency, they (as a whole) passed Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind, raised the debt ceiling, passed bloated farm bills, supported the Patriot Act, and left America in a bad situation. Then, President Obama and the Democrats took over and things got worst. Obamacare. Need I say more? The Republicans took the House and made gains in the Senate due to the Tea Party Movement and grassroot conservatives in 2010. We elected several awesome conservatives who have worked to strengthen the backbone of the GOP. But several of those who were elected in 2010 are finger-lickin’ frauds. They ran under the cover of the Tea Party but in Washington, they have voted to raise the debt ceiling, passed bloated budgets and spending bills, violated our civil liberties, and have done nothing to stop Obamacare.
Conservatives need to win the primaries. Beginning on April 22, 2014 and from then on, primaries will be held throughout the country to decide nominees in many states. Run-offs will be held, filing deadlines will quickly pass, and November will be here before we know it. But if we just nominate more establishment Republicans, our country will never be saved. Why? Because establishment Republicans are no better than their liberal Democrat counterparts. They want to continue spending, just at a slower pace. They want to take away your liberty, just not as obvious as the Democrats do. They have no problem raising taxes, but they’ll sign pledges making you believe that they will not raise taxes. They are crony capitalists, conservative haters and they must be defeated.
But more importantly, we have to support the right candidates who can not only win elections but will actually govern as conservatives. And there are many who are in winnable elections that we can push over the finish line. The best news? Many of them are in REPUBLICAN districts that will elect them and allow them to hold these seats. These are not only winnable races, they are races we must win if we are to build a strong Liberty Congress majority. We must begin to elect candidates and incumbents who put points on the board. They do not need to be perfect, but they need to push for conservative reforms and policies. Let’s win in 2014! Let’s get active in the primaries and get citizen legislators up to Washington D.C. to change Washington.
