#Liberty General Rep. Mark Meadows (R-#NC11): #DefundObamacare Leader! #TCOT #MakeDCListen

Mark Meadows

In 2012, conservative groups like The Madison Project and conservative leaders like Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC 3) helped add another member to our liberty team. Today, LLPH is proud to name Rep. Mark Meadows as part of our Liberty Congress Team and grant him the rank of general.

Rep. Mark Meadows has been a steadfast voice in favor of fiscal responsibility and civil liberties. He opposed CISPA and voted in favor of the Amash Amendment to limit the NSA. He voted against the Ryan-Murray Budget and opposed the resulting Omnibus bill. Rep. Meadows has been a strong leader in voting to cut spending and has opposed most debt ceiling increases. He is also a member of the Liberty Caucus, led by Rep. Justin Amash and also participates in Conversation with Conservatives frequently. But his largest leadership role has been in the fight against Obamacare.

Rep. Meadows led nearly 80 members of the House of Representatives to sign a letter demanding House GOP leadership support defunding Obamacare by attaching such a provision in a must-pass legislation like the continuing resolution. He worked with leaders like Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, Representative Tom Graves, and others to achieve this goal. House GOP leaders were forced to put a bill on the floor with such a provision even though they were obviously reluctant to do so. While conservatives were not successful in defunding Obamacare in the end due to weak-kneed RINOs and liberal, uncompromising Democrats, we were able to expose the failures of Obamacare thanks in part to Rep. Mark Meadows.

LLPH is honored to name Rep. Mark Meadows as a member of the Liberty Team and also re-endorse him for the 2014 midterm elections.
