LLPH is pleased to offer our endorsement to Rep. Steve Pearce (R-NM 2). Over the next few weeks and months as the general election approaches, we will be highlighting members of congress who are part of what we like to term our “Liberty Congress”. While it is important that we elect new and strong conservatives to congress, it is just as important that we re-elect those members who continuously fight for us in Washington D.C.
Rep. Steve Pearce voted against Speaker Boehner and has never wavered in his ability to stand up to the GOP leadership when they are wrong. He has voted against bloated spending bills, opposed debt ceiling increases (including ones like the 3-month debt ceiling increase, infamously known as “No Budget, No Pay”), and has participated in numerous conservative meetings such as Conversation with Conservatives. He opposed the Ryan-Murray Budget and the FY2014 Omnibus Bill that followed it. He voted for the Amash amendment to limit the NSA’s ability to bulk collect data on innocent Americans.
Rep. Pearce has been fighting the establishment since 2003 when he first took office. He voted against the big-government SCHIP bill, even when many of the special interests called on him to do so. He ran in 2008 against the establishment’s pick, Former Rep. Heather Wilson in the primary. She attacked him for voting against SCHIP, but he stood strong and defended his vote, winning the primary in the end. He lost to the Democrat, but returned to congress in 2010 and has been fighting for limited government since.
Here is what Governor Sarah Palin, a great ally of ours has to say about him:
Steve Pearce, in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District, understands what makes this country great. As a decorated military veteran, Steve served our country with honor and distinction. As a successful business-owner, he has created real jobs for New Mexico. By sending Steve back to Congress, we add one more strong voice for fiscal discipline, energy independence, and getting Americans back to work.
It is our honor to endorse Rep. Pearce for re-election in 2014 and to officially name him as part of our liberty team!
