TX 36 Rep. Steve Stockman (@SteveWorks4You) Fights to #DefundObamacare in #ContinuingResolution! #DontFundIt #TCOT

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX 36) will be fighting to defund Obamacare this upcoming fall.

“I applaud the dozen Republican Senators who sent a letter to Majority Leader Reid explaining they will not vote for any continuing resolution that funds ObamaCare.  But as Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have said, ‘The House must refuse to fund Obamacare’ because every appropriations bill originates in the House and the House is the only chamber that Republicans control.  My resolution includes 19 whereas statements that make a compelling case for House Republicans to simply keep their pledge to defund ObamaCare.  For example, the resolution recites our oath of office, our party platform’s plank, and our Speaker’s public promises.”

Rep. Stockman added:

“Polls show a growing majority of Americans, and a super-majority of Texans, opposes ObamaCare.  If Senate Democrats and President Obama choose to partially and temporarily shut down the government over ObamaCare, Republicans can and will win that staring contest so long as they don’t blink first.  I know whereof I speak because I was in the House when Congressional Republicans went toe to toe with President Clinton in 1995.  There are no more excuses for House Republicans to be a part of what Senator Cruz dubbed the ‘Surrender Caucus.”

LLPH encourages members to sign onto Rep. Stockman’s resolution and we look forward to Rep. Stockman’s continued leadership in defunding Obamacare!
